Length: 354 pages

"For a moment, a face flashed before my eyes—the most hideous face I’d ever seen. No matter how hard I tried to forget what had happened, I saw him everywhere I went. It was Loki—the evil god that I’d helped set free against my will.

I should have known that my first official date with Logan Quinn was destined to end in disaster. If we’d gotten into a swordfight, or been ambushed by Reapers, I’d have been more prepared. But getting arrested mid-sip at the local coffee hangout? I didn’t see that one coming.

I’ve been accused of purposely helping the Reapers free Loki from his prison—and the person leading the charge against me is Linus Quinn, Logan’s dad. The worst part is that pretty much everyone at Mythos Academy thinks I’m guilty. If I’m going to get out of this mess alive, I’ll have to do it myself…"

I really enjoyed this book, although it felt a bit slower than the other books. Gwen being put on trial made everything extremely exciting and it was especially frustrating with all of the people from the Protectorate and the Academy being so cruel to her. It really shows the corruption that can happen in any place if people have the money or power to make things happen their way.

Linus annoyed me so much throughout this book, I really just wanted to punch him in the face at times. It was doubly worse because he was Logan's father.

This might have just been because I read so many books in my life already, but it felt quite obvious to me that Agrora was the one who was the Reaper in the Protectorate. Something just felt so off about her, especially because she was the only one being nice to Gwen. Never trust anyone who's too nice in books, haha.

The ending absolutely broke my heart. Gwen using her powers on Logan, having him stab her to death and using her love for him to break the spell he was under. It was majorly cliche but I loved it (maybe even more because it was cliche!)

Either way, I'm really excited to see what's next, especially for Gwen and Logan. Also, what really made me smile was knowing that Alexei was going to stay with Gwen. Also, am I the only one who's really glad that he's gay? I don't think I could handle any kind of love-triangle anytime soon.
